It can be hard to find something they agree on.
But both scientists and dermatologists agree that peptides are really effective at reducing the signs of aging.
Showing proven results in smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles, improving elasticity and firming up your skin.
They also boost hydration - leaving your skin looking smoother and feeling softer.
And, unlike other skincare ingredients (looking at you, retinol!) they do all this without causing irritation.
Which is why we chose the best peptide as one of the key ingredients in our Hydrating Daily Moisturizer.
But something has changed since I first wrote this post. We’ve added something new to the OTIS range - and that something takes the power of peptides to a whole other level!
Our Firm Up Collagen Peptides supplement means you can now boost your collagen from the inside too. Peptides on your skin. Peptides in your system. That’s the inside-out approach - and the latest research shows it’s the most effective way to fight the signs of ageing.
Collagen is the protein responsible for giving your skin structure. It keeps your skin looking firm, smooth and healthy. And it improves elasticity so that your skin bounces back and remains plump.
It’s essentially the building block of your skin’s structure.
But…
Collagen production decreases as we age. And as it breaks down, it leads to less firmness, more wrinkles and sagging skin.
The good news is that men have more of it. Men’s skin has about 20–30% more collagen than a woman’s, giving it much more structural support.
The not-so-good news… These collagen levels drop rapidly after about the age of 40. Wrinkles start to form more quickly, becoming deeper and more noticeable. Your skin becomes dehydrated and uneven. There’s a loss of firmness and your complexion can start to look dull.
Collagen is also broken down by too much sun exposure and eating a high-sugar diet, so you need to keep an eye on those too.

But don’t worry, it is possible to rebuild your collagen levels. And peptides are one of the most effective ways to do it.
When collagen breaks down, it creates small protein fragments - peptides. These fragments send a signal to your skin’s cells: “make more collagen to replace what’s been lost.”
So when you apply peptides to your skin - or take them as a supplement - you’re essentially tricking your body into boosting collagen production back to more healthy levels.
A 2025 review in Biomolecules confirmed that peptides can now be classified into several types: signal peptides that stimulate collagen production, carrier peptides that deliver essential minerals for skin repair, and enzyme-inhibiting peptides that actually slow down collagen breakdown.
So it’s not just about building more - it’s about protecting what you already have.
And they achieve all of this without causing irritation - which is a big deal if you’ve ever tried retinol and found it too harsh.
Now for the science part…
Matrixyl® (or to be exact, palmitoyl pentapeptide-4) is the peptide we chose for our Hydrating Daily Moisturizer.
And we chose it for a reason: its results are proven to be long-lasting.
In independent clinical tests, our Hydrating Daily Moisturiser showed a significant moisturising effect not just when first applied, but also two and four hours later.
Hydration increased by 63% after 2 hours and 71% after 4 hours.
Palmitoyl pentapeptide-4 is a synthesized chain protein created by linking five amino acid peptides. This chain stimulates collagen synthesis, skin repair and production of healthy elastin - making for a smoother skin surface. It also boosts your skin’s production of hyaluronic acid.
The numbers speak for themselves: independent in vitro studies showed an increase in production of Collagen I by 212% and Hyaluronic Acid by 267%.
A six-month in vivo study showed mean wrinkle depth was reduced by 17%, deep wrinkle area reduced by 68%, and moderate wrinkle area reduced by 51%.
And Matrixyl® achieves these impressive results without causing any irritation.
Along with Matrixyl®, our Hydrating Daily Moisturizer also includes:
It’s super lightweight and absorbs quickly - without creating shine. And like all of our products, it’s specially designed for a man’s skin.
So far, so good. Matrixyl® works brilliantly on the surface of your skin.
But the latest research is telling us: the most effective approach isn’t just topical - it’s inside and out.
A groundbreaking 2026 systematic review and meta-analysis in Frontiers in Medicine analysed 19 randomised controlled trials involving 1,341 participants. The conclusion? Oral peptides significantly improved skin hydration and wrinkle reduction, outperforming topical formulations alone.
Your moisturizer works on the surface - the outer layers of your skin. But collagen breakdown happens deeper than that. To really rebuild your skin’s structure, you need to support it from within too.
That’s exactly why we created FIRM UP COLLAGEN Peptides.
Our FIRM UP COLLAGEN Peptides supplement delivers bioactive collagen peptides that are absorbed into your bloodstream and reach your skin from the inside. They signal your fibroblasts - the cells responsible for making collagen - to ramp up production.
A 2025 randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled study in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology found that just 12 weeks of oral collagen peptide supplementation produced lasting improvements in skin hydration, firmness, and dermal structure - benefits that continued even after participants stopped taking the supplement.
And a major meta-analysis published in The American Journal of Medicine (2025) reviewed 23 randomised controlled trials with 1,474 participants and confirmed that collagen supplements significantly improve skin hydration, elasticity, and wrinkles.
So here’s how it works together:
One product on the outside. One on the inside. Together, they’re more effective than either one alone.
Here’s exactly what to do, starting this week:
✅ Morning: Cleanse with DAILY FACE WASH → Apply SPF 30+ → Light layer of HYDRATING DAILY MOISTURIZER (with Matrixyl®).
✅ Daily: Take your FIRM UP COLLAGEN Peptides with breakfast. It mixes easily into water, coffee or a smoothie.
✅ Evening: Cleanse again to remove sunscreen, sweat, and pollution → Apply HYDRATING DAILY MOISTURIZER.
Give it time: This doesn't happen overnight. But most clinical studies show measurable improvements within 8-12 weeks of consistent use.

Are peptides better than retinol?
There’s no denying that retinol is excellent at speeding up skin cell turnover. But it’s a strong ingredient and can easily cause irritation. You have to be especially careful in the sun.
Peptides are much less invasive. They increase collagen, hyaluronic acid, and other key components of the skin without any irritation - even in sensitive skin. The result? Tighter, smoother, more hydrated skin with no redness.
Do peptides tighten skin?
Yes. Peptides trigger collagen production, and since collagen is what gives your skin structure, using peptide-based skincare increases your skin’s firmness and smoothness. Add oral collagen peptides and you’re supporting that firmness from the inside too.
Can you take collagen peptides and use a peptide moisturizer at the same time?
Absolutely - and that’s actually the ideal approach. They work in different ways: your moisturizer delivers peptides topically to the skin’s surface, while oral collagen peptides are absorbed into your bloodstream and work from within. Together, they’re more effective than either one alone. That’s the whole point of the inside-out system.
How long before I see results from collagen peptides?
Most clinical studies show measurable improvements in 8–12 weeks of consistent use. A 2025 study found that benefits continued even after participants stopped supplementation - suggesting that collagen peptides help rebuild lasting structural improvements in your skin.
Is men’s skin really different when it comes to collagen?
Significantly. Men’s skin has about 20–30% more collagen than women’s, which gives it more structural support. But after about 40, those levels drop rapidly. The thicker your skin, the more collagen you have to lose - and when it goes, the effects can be more dramatic. That’s exactly why OTIS formulates specifically for men.
Peptides are one of the most proven, most effective ingredients for rebuilding your skin’s collagen. They reduce fine lines, boost hydration, improve firmness - and they do it without the irritation you get from harsher alternatives.
But what makes OTIS different is the inside-out approach.
Our Hydrating Daily Moisturizer delivers Matrixyl® directly to your skin. Our Firm Up Collagen Peptides supplement rebuilds your collagen from within. Together, they give you results that neither one could achieve alone.
The science is clear. The approach is simple. And your skin will thank you for it.
