Washing your face every day is the secret to fresh, clean, healthy skin.
Even if you’ve staying inside all day you still need to keep your face clean. Washing will clear away the excess oil, dead skin cells and bacteria that build up on your skin and cause breakouts and lead to a dull, dry complexion. It's also the key to getting rid of blackheads.
Here's a quick tutorial to make sure your complexion is always glowing.
The process is very simple and following these 5 step-by-step instructions will make sure you're getting the job done right – without drying out your skin.
How To Wash Your Face The Right Way:
STEP 1: WET YOUR FACE WITH WARM WATER
Before applying any face wash, first splash your face with warm water. This will allow the product to spread easily on your skin.
Avoid using very hot or extremely cold water. The hot water will leave your skin dry and irritated, while the cold is less effective at removing oils from your skin.
Lukewarm water is best. This will open up your pores while also soothing your skin and make for an effective clean.
STEP 2: DISPENSE YOUR FACE WASH
How much face wash should I use?
One of the biggest mistakes you can make is to use too much product. A little goes a very long way, and you only need to use an amount the size of a nickel.
Squeeze this onto your fingertips and then spread the product across your hands. This will improve the effectiveness of the ingredients and allow you to evenly cover the areas of your face.
STEP 3: MASSAGE ON TO YOUR FACE (and beard)
Use gentle circular motions to massage your face wash onto your face and neck, avoiding getting too close to your eyes. Don’t pull the skin too hard. Use just enough pressure to loosen up dirt and excess oil.
Do this for about 30 seconds, spending extra time on those areas where you tend to have a build-up of oil or sweat. This is typically in your T-zone of forehead, nose and chin.
If you prefer to wash your face in the shower, save this until the end so that you can make sure to remove any shampoo and conditioner residue from your face too.
There’s no need to use a sponge or washcloth to apply your face wash. In fact, these can both harbour bacteria and irritate your skin so best to avoid them.
Just take it nice and easy, and let the cleanser do the work.
AND FOR YOUR BEARD
With your beard make sure that you use your fingertips to dig deep into all directions of the beard. This action will clean your skin better and will loosen any ‘beardruff’. It also stimulates the hair follicles, encouraging more growth.
STEP 4: RINSE
After massaging, splash your face with lukewarm water to rinse.
When rinsing your beard, move your fingers through the beard to make sure that all the soap residue is gone
STEP 5: PAT DRY
Then simply pat your skin dry lightly with a clean, soft towel.
If you have acne, don’t rub at your skin with the towel, as this could irritate your skin.
Make sure to keep a separate small towel just for your face. Don’t use the one that you use for the rest of your body.
And don’t let anyone else use it either – only you. Women know to always do this, but you guys are not taught this and it’s really important.
Also, wash the towel at least once a week.
And that’s it…. You’re all done!
Now of course every man needs a go-to face wash to make this process really effective - one that you can use every day to clean and improve your skin.
